Mission

Become a trustworthy free resource for Indonesian food literacy and Balinese culinary depth—recipes, pastes, culture, and travel learning formats—without pretending every page is a 30-minute masterpiece if it is not.

What is in the library

Currently 60 guides and 11 pillar hubs, interlinked so beginners can follow a path and experienced cooks can jump to technique gaps.

Editorial standards

  • Prefer kitchen-testable methods and clear failure modes
  • Separate Balinese cuisine from generic “Indonesian food” carefully
  • Label substitutions as adaptations
  • Estimate read time from word count (~220 wpm)
  • Show last-reviewed dates on articles
  • Treat ceremonial knowledge with respect—not entertainment packaging

Methodology

We structure guides around kitchen-testable methods, named ingredients, cultural context, and clear limitations. Read times reflect approximate word counts. Pages show last-reviewed dates and link related technique, ingredient, and culture guides.

Independence & service mentions

Independence note: Bumbu Bali is an independent educational resource. Some pages mention professional services (including MyChef) only when they help readers compare real-world learning or dining formats. Mentions are contextual, not paid placements unless explicitly labeled.

MyChef and other providers may appear when villa logistics, private dining, or teaching-style chef sessions are relevant to the reader’s problem. Class names appear for market orientation. We do not claim to rank every operator scientifically.
